A new Catholic High School with art, music and science programs located in the city center of Dresden, Germany, between a heavily traveled highway and the Elbe River. The conflict between aggression and tranquility provided a basis for the design.

The site is long and terminates in a public square. The blue wall facing the street screens the interior classrooms and provides a calming buffer against automobile traffic. The opposite Facades in the protected zone can develop free, a play of classrooms facades, a glass hall and terraces open up to a colorful interior garden – similar in mood to the vineyards and terraces of the River Elbe. During school, children develop personality and character – traits which could find expression through individual situations of the building´s classrooms, break rooms, library, chapel, roof terrace and the colors.
